Boat lift and dock repair
A snapped cable, a winch that slips, a cradle that sits crooked, a dock that rocks when you walk it. Blake looks it over for $25 and tells you what is actually wrong before anything gets replaced.
Lake Minnetonka, south shore
A boat lift that will not come down. A dock that has to be out before the ice. Blake and his crew drive up from Prior Lake and bring the barge when the job needs it. Blake is on every job, and he is the one running the barge.
What we do here
It is the same crew and the same barge that work our home lakes. These are the jobs people on Lake Minnetonka call us for.

01
A snapped cable, a winch that slips, a cradle that sits crooked, a dock that rocks when you walk it. Blake looks it over for $25 and tells you what is actually wrong before anything gets replaced.

02
Out before the ice and set on shore where you want it. We service lifts while they are out of the water, so they are ready to go back in come spring.

03
Installing is harder than removing. Every section gets measured and leveled for the water you have this year, not last year.

04
ShoreMaster, Beach King and Tonka Built. Blake comes out, measures your shoreline, and lays out options with prices. You pick what fits.

05
A dock shoved off its legs or a lift tipped by wind. We get it back where it belongs and tell you what can be reused.
Also on this lake: replacement lift canopies and lake mats.
The barge he uses is impressive and allows him to do what most can’t.
Steep lot, or no good way down from the road? Blake brings the barge across the water, and he is the one who runs it.
The lake itself

Lake Minnetonka is a chain of bays joined by channels, not one open bowl. Which bay you are on decides how we reach you: down your yard from the road, or across the water on the barge. Tell us your bay and your nearest cross street when you call.
The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District sets where a dock can sit and how far out it can run, and Minnesota DNR rules apply on top of that. Rules change. Read the current LMCD guidance and the DNR dock page before you change a layout or add a lift.
We keep a plain-language starting point here: Minnesota DNR rules for docks, boats and lifts.
They attach to anything that sits in the water, and that includes lift legs and screw jacks. Blake pulls the legs, cleans and greases them, and puts them back. Fall removal is the best time to do it.
A dock or lift that leaves this lake for another one has drying rules to follow first. Check the DNR's current guidance before it moves.
Spring installs start once the ice is gone. The lake level is managed at the Gray's Bay dam and it still moves from one year to the next, so a lift that sat right last summer may need its height changed this one.

Shorewood's shoreline runs from Smithtown Bay and Howards Point out to Enchanted and Shady islands, and Christmas Lake sits inside the city too. We handle dock and lift repair, fall dock and boat lift removal, and spring install here. If your lot is steep or hard to reach from the road, say so when you call. That is what the barge is for.
02
Excelsior fronts Excelsior Bay, with Gideon's Bay around the point to the west. Boat lift repair, dock removal in the fall, a level install in the spring: it is the same crew and the same barge every time, and Blake is on the job.
03
Tonka Bay is a peninsula between Gideon's Bay and the Upper Lake. If your lift has started to lean or your dock rocks when you walk it, that is a leveling call. Blake will look it over for $25 and tell you what it needs.
04
Greenwood sits on St. Alban's Bay. We take docks and lifts out in the fall and put them back in the spring, and you can pick a time that repeats each year. We remind you when it is coming up, so it never sneaks up on you in October.
05
Deephaven wraps around Carson's Bay, St. Louis Bay and Robinson's Bay. We repair, remove and install boat lifts and docks here. If another company set your lift and it has never sat right, Blake will come look. A lot of our customers found us that way.
06
The city of Minnetonka meets the lake at Gray's Bay, where the water leaves for Minnehaha Creek. We do boat lift removal, repair and spring install here. You can price a fall removal before you ever talk to us.
07
Victoria reaches Lake Minnetonka on its southwest side, in Carver County. We also work on Lake Bavaria nearby. Boat lift repair, removal and installation, and new docks when the old one is done.
Farther around the lake? Mound, Orono, Minnetrista, Spring Park, Wayzata, St. Bonifacius and Long Lake are a longer drive for us. Call and ask. It depends on the job and the time of year.

Blake and Brian did an amazing job at replacing the cable in my Dockrite vertical lift. If there is a homeowner on a lake that needs any type of dock or lift repair I recommend Big Wave. They know their stuff and are reasonably priced.
Our lake water level fluctuates quite a bit from year to year and even within season… Blake and his crew were out within 1 day and helped us get our lift height adjusted saving our summer.

Shorewood, Excelsior, Tonka Bay, Greenwood, Deephaven, Minnetonka and Victoria. For Mound, Orono, Minnetrista, Spring Park or Wayzata, call and ask. It depends on the job and the time of year.
As early as you can. Everything has to be out before the ice, and the open days go fast once the weather turns. You can price your removal and send it in in a couple of minutes.
It depends on the size of the dock, where it sits and how many boats you keep at it. Lake Minnetonka has its own rule-maker, the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District, and Minnesota DNR rules apply too. Read the current LMCD guidance before you build or change a layout.

They attach to the parts that sit in the water, screw jack legs included. Blake pulls the legs, cleans and greases them, and puts them back. It runs $150 to $200 per lift. How often you need it depends on your water: every year for some, every other year for others.

Send a few photos with your request if you can. Some things cannot be seen until we are standing on the dock, but photos get the price right on or very close.
